5 Simple Steps for Creating Inner Balance
5 simple steps (plus a energy tips) for creating inner balance.
Personal Growth During the Winter Season
Personal growth does occur during the Winter, but it’s an inside job.
The energy of Winter, slows ----a time for the wisdom of quiet and stillness
But the energy is not frozen or stagnant.
This isn’t a time of creating change through heavy lifting, pushing, and striving, but instead a call to go within.
Time to support elements within yourself that are needing time and space to heal, to reshape your energy and focus, recalibrate your system, or maybe even time for your inner self to more deeply reveal itself to you.
Benefits for Creating a Dream Journal
Dreams can be seen as a window to our subconscious and unconscious minds. Although dreams can appear to include seemingly random pairing of images and events, they can also hold deeper messages and meanings. Dreams can shed light on our our worry, our desires, our relationships, and the state of our overall health.
Having a practice of utilizing a dream journal can expand our understanding of ourselves and create an opportunity for positive personal and spiritual growth.
Fresh Vision for Intention Setting 2024
I was first introduced to the concept of intention setting with Dr. Dwayne Dyer’s book, “The Power of Intention” almost 20 years ago.
I was already a therapist, but at times still felt a little green—a little inexperienced—as I continued on my own path of personal insight and discovery.
I had been working in my field for about 7 years. I knew about limiting beliefs, self-defeating thoughts, the power that words held—whether spoken, written or thought.
I thought I understood emotions, thoughts and behaviors, but then I would get tripped up in my own personal life or a new client would walk through the door with a story I have never heard and I would have to figure out how to work differently to meet this client’s need.
One thing seemed very clear, I needed to be more mindful about the words I used with myself and others.
Healing and Integrating Shadow
Everyone has Shadow. It is the side of us that usually makes us uncomfortable things we are not particularly proud of or even fond of showing others (or are embarrassed when someone sees our Shadow side).
We can’t get rid of Shadow. It is part of us. All of us. And it is part of our wholeness. We are whole, even despite the things that make us uncomfortable.
Trusting Intuition and Divine Timing
For so many of us, trusting our intuition and trusting in Divine Timing can be a challenge.
I was watching an interesting Nature program, David Attenborough’s "Life in Color". A segment of the program discussed how insects and other animals can see ultraviolet light and therefore could send and receive messages undetected to the human eye.
That got me thinking; how much do I actually see with my “regular” vision? How much more do I miss?
And beyond my “regular” visual perception, how fully am I aware of the messages I receive, whether through sensing, knowing, or feeling? How wide is that lens? How much information do I receive through other forms of perception?
How much still remains unseen? How much is still a mystery?
Welcoming in Autumn with the Fall Equinox
The Fall Equinox marks the beginning of Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. A day where day and night are in balance. Longer nights have already begun to grow, and we are experiencing the softer and slower energy of Fall.
Cultivating a Practice of Patience and Love
The “in-between” time or messy middle can be so challenging.
Something in our life has run it's course. We are bravely stepping away from old idea, belief, or habit, with intention and purpose. We have began to release the people, places, or things that no longer serve our highest good. There was an ending, but instead of feeling like a time of transition--it feels like we are standing still.
It is not yet time for the next "new beginning" to start. The new way or experience hasn't revealed itself or show up yet. We are emotionally strained from the soul searching in releasing in the old, but don't seem to have enough in the tank to hold out for the new.
We have all been there.
Moon Phases & Personal Growth
I am going to throw a big, bold statement down: Learning about the Moon’s phases and astrology has powerful lessons in cultivating increased mindfulness and supports positive personal growth.
I know, I know. There are probably very few psychology textbooks out there that outline the research and data to back that statement. This is an anecdotal observation of how learning about the Moon’s cycles and astrology has impacted my mindfulness and personal growth. However, I believe that it may possibly be beneficial to other women as well.
Trusting Your Intuition
Our intuition is also called our inner voice, inner wisdom, inner seeing, inner knowing, instinct, gut sense or sixth sense. You may receive intuition or intuitive hits through a variety of nudges. We can receive intuitive messages through our knowing, feeling (either physical sensations or emotions), hearing, and even smelling.
Intuition is a “factory setting”, so to speak, for all humans. Intuition is with us from the start of our lives. It is there to keep us safe and satisfied.
the mindful path to consistency
I don’t have a crystal ball, but I can guess on why achieving your last goal or creating change failed…
You struggled to show up consistently for yourself and when it got difficult, or the results did not come fast enough your enthusiasm stalled and then…maybe you ditched the goal/change?
Ugh. Consistency. Humans…we are the worst at it!
I know, because sometimes it’s a super struggle for me to show up consistently for myself. And I know it’s a human thing because it’s a topic that I talk to clients, friends, family and anyone who shares their goal/ change stories with me.
Healing the Habit of People Pleasing
People pleasing. It’s like the little sister/brother of co-dependency. Not a full-blown clinical diagnosis but it still can be disruptive in our lives. Its impact can range from annoyance and irritation to depletion and exhaustion.
People pleasing is a habit. A learned pattern. At some point, (usually) in our young lives, we decided it was unsafe or unproductive to give voice to our needs, to actively follow through with compromise or full commitment in meeting our needs, to clarify our expectations to others and to continue the practice asserting our personal power with the art of saying “no”.
